Which is the most preferred sawmill blades for the Wood-mizer LT15? Blades directly from Wood-mizer or Cook's Saw? The one that cuts best for you and stays sharp the longest. Lt 40 wide with 38hp gas and command controls Riehl Steel edger,F 4x4 dump and lot of contracting tools.
I have used both and I find that they both cut equally well but the Wood-Mizer bands set better. I know that's pretty weird but here is what I have experienced in setting Cooks Excel: I put the band in the Cat Claw setter, back the anvil out so it does not make contact with a tooth and actuate the handle to press on the band.
Ideally the dial indicator should not move if the band is perfectly flat. This is indeed the case on one side of the band but when I flip the band and repeat the process the dial indicator does move 0. I have never understood this - if the band has curvature the dial indicator should move regardless of whether the band is flipped or not.
I haven't observed this with WM bands. They cut just fine and I got them resharpened at WM Resharp.Lg str w6754 circuit diagram
Have used a lot of them. WM Cooks Timber Wolf. Different species may saw differently, heck even different logs from the same species will occasionally saw differently. I would not want to get into the game of chasing blades searching for some minuscule blade difference that may or may not exist. Yes, I have used many different blade profiles from several different suppliers especially early in my sawing career.

I too tried different belts, shorter Goodyear which were a bear to install and the orange ones which were hard to install too and were out of round causing bad vibration.
Back to the b47s. Thanks all for the information, it was very helpful. Trying to get an idea of bf per hr. The volume of Mountain Dew and number of Whoopie Pies you have consumed will have a greater effect on BF production over who made the band. Quote from: Secondchance on April 20,PM. WM bands will keep the LT15 sawing straight.
I edged on the mill, so that slowed things down a bit, also. However, the mill cut extremely straight lumber. I remember many years ago they did a sawmill shootout and hit 1, bdft per hour, two guys, for one hour. They were dead beat afterword, and needed some Dew.Forums New posts Search forums. I couldnt tell you how much I cut before I have to change blades but it might be somewhere around bf. Joined May 1, Messages 3, Location Ontario. Not many manufactures can stay in buisness if they are making a bad product, so with bands whats work for one may not work for the other. I too am somewhat new to milling so I tried alot of different bands to see what suited me and my style of cutting, so far they are as follows ranked in order.
I pays to shop around. Personally myself I have been very impressed with the Quiksilvers from MK Morse, priced right, take a beating and can cut most anything incl.Pigroast uncertainty What are your thoughts? Started by Happycamper on Chainsaws. Started by Lewis Brander on Chainsaws.

I promptly trashed one on a log full of nails. It was a surprise to me when James from Cooks Saw offered to send another one to let me give it a real tryout. These were pretty dirty logs. Around here "dirt" really means "sand. I was truly impressed with how well this blade held up. Some time back I bought a used Cat Claw sharpener and setter.
I tried to set it up the other day and found I was missing some parts. Called Cooks to order the parts; they'd ship shortly.
They had the parts waiting for me when I walked in. I was highly impressed with the ladies in the office, both on the phone and in person.Rally car body kits

I have all kinds of old and fairly new blades thrown in a corner of my barn rusting away because I got fed up with trying to get them to cut straight. After talking with Tim Cook, he convinced me to try this thing I can take any blade that is either diving in the cut or rising in the cut and roll it through this thing and it will cut.
Is anybody else using one of these? Gender: Enjoy Making Sawdust!! Thanks Ron. Sawing part time mostly urban logs -St. Would someone please post a picture of a Band Roller. Thank You, VA-Sawyer. Ron, It doesn't matter the type of wheel that you run. Your not trying to make the band shape to the wheel, but rather you are simply making the body of the blade flat in the cutting area between the guides.
The band roller will take these rising and diving blades and make them cut straight by flattening the body. I hope that helps. VA-Sawyer, I looked on their site, but I don't think they have this listed yet. I'll see if I can pull my digital camera out and take a picture unless someone else has one. It's nothing overly fancy, but the function of it you will like. There's a pic in their catalog! What do we do if we don't have a catalog???
How hard do you think it would be to make one? Is it just the part below the set of the teeth or the whole blade and then you re-set after rolling? Pics would be nice I have both WM and Simmonds blades and have never had a problem with rising or diving in the cut other than the times it got dull and needed re-sharpend and re-set.
After doing that all was good. Just the body gets rolled. Think of a tape measure being wrapped around your pullies. If the cup side of the tape is against the bandwheels it will rise in the cut. Thank you Kirk. I didn't want to be the first to say that I've never had a problem and make myself look ignorant.
